RLACS252 Drive by noise roadside caseRoadside Case (RLACS252) for Pass-by Noise Testing

This case is placed near the Sound Level Meters by the roadside. It can hold the Mini Input Module, 2.4 GHz telemetry radio (RLRTM24MBC) and Li-ion battery (RLACS112L).

To improve the radio range between the sound level meters and the test vehicle, it is recommended to raise the height of the antenna. Racelogic supply an antenna mounting plate (RLACS254) which can be attached to a camera tripod.

Motorbike Case (RLACS253)

This case is used for Pass-by Noise Testing but can be installed on motorcycles/scooters for other testing. It can hold the VBOX 3i, CAN splitters, 2.4 GHz telemetry radio (RLRTM24MBS), Base Station radio (2.4Ghz or Satel) and Li-ion battery (RLACS112L). It has mounting brackets as well as a GPS ground plane.

VBOX Pedal Force Sensor and Event Marker Interface

Testing a vehicle’s Braking and Braking Assist Systems has never been easier, thanks to the VBOX Pedal Force Sensor and Event Marker Interface. Our new solution measures the amount of force applied to a brake pedal, in accordance to SAE and ECE standards, and automatically triggers the start of a test as soon as any pressure is detected. This removes the need for an additional activation switch, such as a brake pedal trigger.

VBOX Pedal Force Sensor (RLACS282)

The VBOX Pedal Force Sensor is designed to measure the load applied to a pedal. Thanks to its low-profile design, large contact area and universal mounting bracket, the sensor is easy to install and remove. A high overload protection (150% of FS) also prevents damage in the event of an emergency stop. Other key features include an anti-slip spherical loading surface to minimize the effects of off-axis loading and very stable temperature compensation.

VBOX Pedal Force Event Marker Interface (RLACS292)

The VBOX Pedal Force Event Marker Interface connects inline between the VBOX Pedal Force Sensor and a VBOX 3i. As soon as any pressure is applied to the brake pedal, the interface outputs a digital signal, which can be used to trigger the start of a test. It works in a similar way to a traditional brake pedal trigger, but also allows for the measurement of pedal force and does not need to be stuck to the pedal. Instead, it can be placed next to the VBOX 3i that it is connected to, or securely inside the VBOX carry case.

The brake trigger event time capture is stored in internal memory and stamped into the VBO file to interpolate the speed between GPS samples which is the key component for a high accuracy brake stop distance calculation.

Brake Trigger Interface (RLACS157)

The Racelogic brake trigger interface module it is possible to conduct brake stop tests without employing a traditional brake pedal trigger.

This is ideal if the vehicle is already installed with a brake pressure sensor and cannot therefore also use a brake pedal trigger.

The interface is connected to the vehicle's high 12V brake light system, and when the brakes are applied, converts it into an active low 0V signal which acts as a trigger event for the VBOX. Connection to the VBOX is via Lemo.

Start/ Stop Logging Switch (RLVBACS010)

Rugged and lightweight switch used for starting and stopping the data logging.

The switch is a latching push switch that, when in the open position, starts the data logging and when in the closed position stops the data logging.

The latching feature eliminates the need for constant pressure to be applied to the switch, ensuring that the driver of the vehicle can keep two hands on the steering wheel.

Mainly used for event marking or to start tests where the placement of a light barrier is not viable.

The hand-held brake trigger is only active when the button is depressed.

RLVBACS010 Logging Switch

Light Barrier Kit (RLVBACS063)

The Racelogic Light Barrier kit comprises of an optical sensor with power and trigger output connections, a Culman suction mount with a metal mounting plate for the optical sensor and a square plastic reflector plate.

The trigger cable from the light barrier unit connects directly with the trigger input of a VBOX and the power cable can connect to any of the 5 way lemo connectors on a VBOX to pickup power.

The kit is often employed in drive-by noise tests where volume output must be measured at exactly the same point in every instance.

CAN Splitter Boxes

The RLVBACS024 allows more than one 5-Way Lemo   connection to be made to one 5-Way Lemo socket on a VBOX.

This is most commonly used to allow an RS232 and a CAN connection to be made into the same socket.

The RLVBACS024/1 additionally has a Simplex RS232 socket for PC connection in vehicle separation tests.

IMU Roof Mount

For use with the IMU04.

The IMU Roof Mount allows for an IMU04 to be placed directly on the vehicle roof, co-located with the GPS antenna.

It is the easiest and most accurate method of mounting the unit.

VBOX Power Backup

Maintains power supply to the VBOX 3i for up to 20 seconds to prevent data loss and the need to repeat system initialisation procedures such as IMU Kalman filter calibration.

Undesired power loss can happen during engine cranking, when the vehicle stalls, or the VBOX has been disconnected too early.
