There are different apps available for each of the above use cases, that are written in Python and can be downloaded from the VBOX Touch App Store, below. Simply load your chosen app onto an SD card, insert it in the VBOX Touch, follow the onscreen commands and you are ready to start testing.
VBOX Touch comes pre-installed with a versatile Performance app, for acceleration and deceleration testing. The device offers brake trigger input support, meaning you can easily test a vehicle's braking abilities using trigger and speed-to-speed methods.
Each app provides you with the relevant information needed for that specific test, with results saved directly to the device's SD card. You can also export your test results as a CSV file for more detailed analysis in VBOX Test Suite, if required.
The standard Performance application that ships with the VBOX Touch enables you to perform acceleration and deceleration tests, using one of the many pre-configured tests or by setting your own parameters. Lap timing and speed display modes enable you to see your current lap time, reference lap, live speed, average speed or maximum speed.
You can download additional apps below or from the App Store section on the SW/FW downloads page. They are free of charge, but you are required to register your VBOX Touch in order to download.
Only one app can run on the VBOX Touch at a time. Once you have loaded a new app onto your VBOX Touch, you can easily switch back to the standard functionality of the device by re-installing the Performance app. Similarly, you can switch between other applications, by loading the one that you wish to use onto an SD card, and inserting this into the VBOX Touch.
The Brake Temperature Monitoring app provides you with a real-time display of the temperature of each brake disc while on track. This is invaluable information when looking for the optimum brake bias and tyre setup for a race.
The responsive, colour display offers a visual representation via 64 individual heat maps, as well as live and maximum temperature values.
In order to use this app, you must also purchase the Brake Temperature Monitoring Sensors & Wiring Loom (RLACS314).
The Multi-Function Display app allows you to use the VBOX Touch as a display when connected to a VBOX 3i.
It will show data from GPS derived channels that are outputted over CAN. Up to six parameters can be displayed on a single screen, such as speed, lateral & longitudinal acceleration, radius of turn, distance travelled, heading and various brake test channels. It can also calculate and present performance test results, live from the test vehicle.
You will need the cable 'RLCAB005-C' to connect VBOX Touch to a VBOX 3i.

This can then be loaded to the VBOX Touch using an SD card, once the Speed Profiler app has been installed. The driver will then receive both audible and visual alerts if they deviate from this.

The device can receive RTK correctional signals using a Base Station or NTRIP modem, meaning you can have up to 1 cm positional accuracy at a test track or on open roads.
*Specifications will vary depending on the number of satellites used, obstructions, satellite geometry (PDOP), multipath effects, and atmospheric conditions. For maximum system accuracy, always follow best practices for GNSS data collection. 1 ppm means 1 mm/km away from base. Ppm is limited to baselines up to 20 km.
